4 of the Deadliest Martial Arts You Can Study
75
Mixed martial arts is being brought to a broader audience than ever before thanks to UFC, Strikeforce, and the Internet. But outside of competitions between practiced and skilled martial artists, martial arts and martial arts supplies are used by someone to be able to defend themselves against attackers who seek to do them harm--perhaps wishing to mug them, rape them, or just beat them up for the hell of it. Martial arts are a great equalizer, for a smaller person who is skilled can seriously harm a larger person who is not--even in self defense if they have a weapon (other than a firearm).
If you are going to be able to effectively defend yourself against an attacker, you probably would like to know about the most deadly martial arts that you could practice. The more deadly your skills, the more quickly you can beat down a violent attacker, even if you don't really kill them. Let's look at a list that includes some of the most deadly martial arts practices.
Wing Chun
Developed by and named for a 110-pound woman who was the wife of a Chinese imperial warrior, Wing Chun is arguably the ultimate martial art for females and for relatively smaller men. Wing Chun is not about using powerful striking force, but about using your adversary's own energies against them--so, the harder they strike at you, the more force you deliver back against them. This martial art incorporates a unique stance and the use of "feather-like" punches and kicks which are delivered in chain-lightning fashion to add up to serious power. This martial relies entirely on speed, mechanics, strategic blows to anatomically weak areas of the adversary, and the philosophy "strong as iron but flexible as a blade of grass".
Jeet Kune Do
Invented by Bruce Lee and based partly on Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do was named by Lee for the Chan Buddhism phrase for constantly filling a cup with water, and then pouring it back out. Lee's philosophy was to "cast off what is useless". Lee did not believe in being locked in to any one martial arts system or tradition, so through lifelong study he developed this open-hand fighting philosophy with different techniques like grappling, kicking, and punching to be used in different situations. Jeet Kune Do is very offense-minded and aggressive.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Another deadly martial art that can be used by smaller people against much larger adversaries, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu trains the practitioner in the art of making the adversary submit to you. This martial art anticipates a fight ending up on the ground--as the majority of all real-world street fights do. Meaning "the Gentle Art", this form of Jiu-Jitsu, if you practice it, gives you the great advantage of knowing how to take down an adversary to the ground and then pummel them into submission.
Kalarippayattu
Perhaps the oldest martial art in the world, developed in Kerala, in South India. Practitionaers of Kalarippayattu seek a perfect unity of mind, spirit, and body. They make use of the meditative disciplines of mantra shastra and tantra shastra. This is a very dynamic martial art that makes use of just about every physical technique in martial arts including the use of weapons. Also, it involves using "The Force"--an advanced practitioner can "sense" an adversary's next moves before they even make them and deftly act to counter them in advance! These are just a few of the deadly martial arts skill-sets that you could study. Clearly there are many other forms of martial arts, but these above are well established as four of the most deadly of them all.
What do you think? Do you agree would you change any of the deadliest 4? Please make comments below!

This is an excellent hub I have ever found on martial arts. I want to learn all of them but have little time.
I think I would have added Krav Maga and Jailhouse Rock (JHR. From what I have seen, both are pretty deadly.
And useful...LOL
Great Hub!

Talk with you later in SN.
Thanks for the great read! Keep up the great work!
All martial /combat arts are deadly. It depends on the level you master it.
hey great hub my first point will be about bruce lee and JKD
i might make a seperate note for bruce lee and his JKD since its actually more of a self defense phillosophy about keeping an open mind, not a martial art in its self. bruce lee was actually a wing chun practitioner him self, a studen of Ip man who felt there were simply too many regulations, limitations and rules in his origal system which makes his philosophy more of an MMA just simply not for sport but Self defense in the street where there are no rules and any thing can happen.
my second point i peronaly wouldint call these 4 of the deadlyest just for deadly arts lol but a good title to catch attention
poit three Kalarippayattu, of course its going to be one of the top 4 deadlyest you can practice, deadlyest to your self that is. because you practice with live blades
(including sparring) how ever im not sure at what stage they start to practice like this and i think its goreographed for safty, so i might put a warrning sign next to it.
but in the end all of them are great arts it all depends on you. great hub i will be looking forward to reading more of them keep up the good work
